The Faena Hotel is an extraordinary hotel designed by Philippe Starck. It is set in a 7-story brick building, a grain warehouse from 1902, and located in Buenos Aires' upscale Puerto Madero district. Personal concierges ("experience managers") greet guests on arrival -there is no formal front desk- and serve throughout the guests' stay.
Flourishes include unicorn heads on the walls, velvet curtains, crimson-upholstered chairs, automatic velvet curtains, Venetian blinds and crystal chandeliers. The spacious rooms and suites, many with city and Río de la Plata views, have lapacho-wood floors and arabasceto marble bathrooms. Room facilities include a home theatre with a flatscreen TV, a CD/DVD player, an iPod dock, and a minibar. 24-hour room service.
Decorated in white and Gold, the Bistro offers European and Argentinian cuisine. Inspired by Buenos Aires' legendary cantinas, El Mercado offers authentic local cuisine in a warm, rustic atmosphere. Guests can unwind reading a book while sipping coffee, enjoy afternoon tea or a light lunch in the sultry Library lounge. There is also a cellar containing the largest collection of Argentinean wines. Breakfast is served at El Mercado. El Cabaret hosts nightly tango performances and offers individual lessons.
Spa facilities include a sauna, a hammam, and a hydromassage bath. A state-of-the-art fitness centre and complimentary bicycles are also available. The outdoor pool is one of Buenos Aires' prime see-and-be-seen spots.
