Set in a 40 acre park overlooking the roaring Fork River, Aspen Meadows is a resort with Bauhaus architecture surrounded by the stunning Colorado Rocky Mountains. The campus of six two-story buildings was designed in the early 1950s with stark geometric facades, glass walls and white exteriors.
The spacious all-suite accomodations (55-70m2) feature floor-to-ceiling windows and large balconies or patio's which allow pine scented mountain breezes to freshen the air. The sleek whitewashed rooms feature midcentury modern furniture, including Eero Saarinen desks, but accoutrements like flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, mini-fridges, microwave ovens and wired work desks are definitely of the 21st century.
The hotel's restaurant, Plato's, offers views of Red Mountain, Aspen Highlands and Buttermilk Mountain and serves contemporary American fare good enough to draw in visitors from the happening downtown Aspen dining scene.
Guests can enjoy an outdoor year-round swimming pool, steam room, hot tub and state-of-the-art fitness centre. No matter the season, guests at Aspen Meadows Resort can find a variety of activities, including top-rated ski trails, scenic hiking paths and exciting white water rafting.
The downtown area, a 5-minute free shuttle ride away offers local shops and restaurants. The shuttle also serves Aspen Airport, and Aspen Mountain Gondola, where guests can take complimentary shuttles to all ski areas.
Please note the resort doubles as a conference center and is often booked with corporate events or weddings.
