21c Museum Hotel is exactly what its name implies: a unique mix of both contemporary art museum and boutique hotel, located in the heart of historic Louisville, Kentucky. Locals Steve Wilson and his wife Laura Lee Brown, whose foundation owns the art collection fills the hotel’s gallery. The aesthetic here is not over-produced, but tastefully thought out so to appear cool, easy, and authentic. If the art here is not enough, the hotel is within walking distance of the Louisville Slugger Museum.

21c Museum Hotel is set in two former tobacco and bourbon warehouses and were renovated with reclaimed-wood floors, hand-blocked linen upholstery, exposed brickwork and timber trusses, and glass transoms.

Unique and creative guest rooms have Herman Miller chairs, high ceilings, pewter mint julep cups, and feature 42" flat screen TVs, minibars, iPod docking stations, work desks and laptop safes. Bathrooms have bathrobes and hairdryers, Malin and Goetz amenities, and rubber ducks in the bathtubs.

Proof on Main's, the hotel's award-winning restaurant, menu is inspired by Italy and the American South, hence dishes like Marksbury Farm bone-in pork chop, bison pastrami or rye pasta carbonara, and offers a choice of more than 50 Kentucky bourbons, several bottled exclusively for the hotel.

21c Museum Hotel has a gym, sauna, steam room and bicycle rentals are available. At request, there are a number of massages available, either in the treatment rooms or in the privacy of your room.

Traveler Reviews TripAdvisor

Loud and overpriced

The public areas are cool and the staff is pleasant. The upstairs halls, guest rooms and baths are generic, dorm-like, and unbelievably loud. The overpriced rooms (our bill was over $300) are paying for the cool, free art museum/lobby.
