Located on the famous Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, The Standard is a hip design hotel set in a modernist, blinding white motel of the 1960s. Rooms feature metallic silver bean bags, cool blue colour schemes, shag carpets on ceilings as well as floors, and Warhol-print curtains. Room facilities include air conditioning, king-size platform beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, cable TV, bluetooth speakers, an 'overstocked' minibar, a work desk and mood lighting. Bathrooms feature custom organic amenities and extra large bath towels. Most rooms have a balcony or patio with city or poolside views. Second and third floors have iconic views of Sunset Boulevard and the Hollywood hills. The 24-hour coffee-shop/restaurant with its retro diner interior serves international comfort food, from sushi to lasagne via the great American burger. Room service (same menu) is also available 24-hours. Cocktails are served in the Desert Café. The heated pool is generously accessorised with Richard Schultz loungers and inflatable water toys - and surrounded by blue astroturf and enjoys a happening scene.
