Chateau Marmont is an iconic hotel and Hollywood landmark, located on Sunset Boulevard. Built as an apartment house in 1929, it was transformed into a hotel in the 1930s with the suites all having living areas and kitchens. The main building is modeled after the castle of Amboise in France. In 1956 four modernist bungalows were added. The arts and crafts ‘castle on the hill’ is the epitome of all that’s great and good about tinseltown: glamorous, cool and utterly captivating.
Rooms come with a 42" flatscreen TV, a DVD and CD player, an iPod dock, a minibar with free bottled water, fluffy bathrobes and cashemere throws, and Kiehl’s baths products. Most rooms provide a view of the surrounding gardens. Private bungalows have pool views or private entrances. 24 hour room service and in-room spa treatments and massages are offered.
Bar Marmont uses local produce in each dish and also serves drinks and cocktails. The hotel further offers a heated outdoor pool surrounded by lush gardens, a gym, music and movie library, valet parking and a concierge.
• Free Wi-Fi throughout
• Hotel opened: 1931
• Unique: André Balazs acquired the property in 1990 and renovated it with the image that the hotels remains untouched including the antiques from depression-era estate sales.
