hassle free stay

Stayed here a weekend night in November. Pleasantly surprised by the modern decor which was both pleasing to the eye and also made excellent use of the (limited) space. I had a junior suite, which is larger than the usual offer in the Gat Point Charlie but has the disadvantage of the sloping roof. For the price this is extremely good value. Flatscreen TV (in my room two), free WiFi which worked perfectly, iPod docker, nice bathroom with window and daylight. The bright green tiled walls where an eye-cather. There was free mineral water in a small fridge and a fruit tray. The location is perfect: although the direct street is very quiet, it is just one block from Checkpoint Charlie, Friederichstrasse shopping and the Ubahn (metro) with easy connections all over Berlin. Staff were unpretentious and friendly and fit in with the relaxed image the Gatrooms chain likes to portray. Breakfast was fine too, large selection and great choice in eco products. Selection even included crepes and baked potatoes. I was reading some excellent reviews of the Gat Kitchen restaurant so was a little dissappointed that on my visit it was closed four a couple of days. In a city spoilt with choice of hotels, this one seems to have it right with value for money, a great location and a relaxed vibe.
