Copenhagen’s Hotel Alexandra is a highly original hotel, a century-old building whose interiors seem to have crystallized sometime around 1955 feauturing many mid-century Danish designs. Over the past 20 years, Hotel Alexandra has carefully sourced a large collection of world famous Danish mid-century vintage furniture, and decorated its 61 rooms with them. Combined with textiles, wallpapers and other period gems, they take you back in time to experience living like the design-loving Danes did, in the 50's and 60's. A Danish furniture museum you can live in... (and virtually every object is for sale).
There is the Arne Jacobsen room, the Hans Wegner room, and the Finn Juhl room. Entry-level rooms are minuscule, the main distinction between the rooms and suites, more than size, is the degree to which they’ve realized the vision of a particular designer. All rooms come with a flat-screen TV, coffee and tea making facilities, a safe and a work desk.
The staff has created a collection of guidebooks for guests, one with a curated selection of bookshops, another for nightlife, restaurants, flea markets… There is a sleek lobby bar and a Vietnamese restaurant. Bicycle rental.
