Scandic Paasi design hotel is located on the doostep of Helsinki's traditionally working class districts of Hakaniemi and trendy Kallio. Its bold, colourful and whimsical interiors are inspired by the hotel's neighbourhood from Finnish boxing to 19th-century circus. The hotel is part of the Paasitorni ("Workers' House") complex, with the oldest part dating back to 1908. The Art Nouveau-style building has a granite clad tower which is a city landmark. Scandic Paasi is located next to the Hakaniemi Food Market which also has a metro station, giving easy access to the central train station.
Rooms feature wooden floors and have air conditioning, a flat-screen TV, a minibar, a safe and a work desk. Some rooms have kitchenettes, balconies or private saunas.
The hotel has a bar, a sauna (at a charge) with roof terrace and a library with board games, magazines and iPads. Hotel guests can also enjoy free use of bicycles and Nordic walking sticks. There's no restaurant on-site but Juttutupa, a Helsinki institution with real Art Nouveau character, is a restaurant and pub in the adjacent handsome granite edifice.
