Nestled in the glorious countryside of the Nockberge region in western Carinthia, the stylish art-lodge is a former farm "Rohrerhof" with over 300 years of history. It is situated on a 16,000 m² plot of land at an altitude of 1,058 metres giving possibilities for ski hiking and snowshoe hiking in winter. In summer enjoy the green pastures and fruit trees surrounding the buildings and the bio-pool in the courtyard.
Classic design, modern fixtures, vibrant colours, and individually constructed design elements have merged to create a unique yet cosy ambience.
The main house has three family suites with an extra bedroom for children. Guests with older children can also opt for the superior double room next door. Travelling without children? The restored barn next door houses 2 suites, 3 superior doubles and a double room ensuring peace and quiet. All of the rooms feature bathrobes, satellite TV, free WiFi and complimentary soft drinks. They all have a balcony or terrace with two of them facing the south and pool-area, whilst all others have far reaching views of the Alps.
Other than skiing in winter and swimming in summer the art-lodge offers a range of activities. Next to the pool is the small spa house in the old carpenter’s shed which offers a sauna and massages. No less than 15 golf courses can be found in the vicinity, or enjoy cycling and walking before taking a dip into the 100 lakes for which Carinthia is famous. Even more adventurous? There is paragliding nearby or the art-lodge can help you with tailor made activities, such as ski safaris and Nordic walking. Due to its proximity to both Slovene and Italian borders, skiing can be become a daily international affair and even the Adriatic coast can be reached in two hours.
The palate at the lodge's intimate restaurant is also an international affair. The popular restaurant (reservation needed!) is open mondays, wednesdays, fridays and saturdays and offers a changing four course menu. Bio-meat and organic ingredients are used from surrounding farms and friday is veggie day. On other days try one of the traditional Austrian restaurant in the surrounding villages.
An "á la carte" breakfast is served from 08:30h until about 13.00h, as well as coffee, tea, cold beverages (water, juice, beer, and wine of the house) for self-service around the clock in the parlour or in the guest fridges.
So, and wonder where the art in art-lodge comes in? Art lives in this hotel - some pieces are forever and some just for brief periods of time. The art is for sale, so if a piece finds a new admirer it might move into another home. Otherwise, it will continue to reside at the art-lodge where it can be appreciated by other guests.
In summer art-lodge operates as a boutique hotel with individual rooms bookable. In winter, the lodge can be rented as a whole (perfect for large families or small groups) with either self-catering or fullservice package.
