Set in a 200-year old Moorish mansion, Casa Colombo's hip, hedonistic and high style interiors were created by the owner, a protégé of the legendary Geoffrey Bawa. Located in the southern Bambalapitiya quarter it offers a pink swimming pool, small spa and exciting restaurants and bars.
Stylish and spacious, the air-conditioned suites at Casa Colombo come with tall ceilings and an iPod filled with movies. Each is equipped with a Nakamitchi flat-screen TV, DVD player, minibar and local toiletries. Corporate and Royal Suites offer business desks with MacBook, scanner and printer. Personal domos (butler/concierges) tend to your every whim.
Shady mango tree towers over the famously pink swimming pool in the rear courtyard. Curved glass sunloungers, canopied double day-beds and chrome elephant ornaments look on. There is a small spa with beauty treatments and relaxing massages.
Once the mansion’s grand hall, HVN is now Casa’s main restaurant, serving up a fusion menu of western and Sri Lankan cuisine. The outdoor Zaza Bar doubles as a sleek tea salon by day and offers light snacks including sandwiches and toasties, as well as tasty smoothies and iced coffees. ZaZa Bar transforms into a luxe lounge by night, with an international wine list, liqueurs, crafty cocktails and chill-out music. Alternatively, al fresco dining and international dishes are available at T Republic Restaurant.
