Originally the residence of one of the owner's, today Ten Bompas is an intimate an stylish all suite boutique hotel sitting in the heart of South Africa’s premier business and entertainment district of Sandton/Rosebank and close to the heart of Johannesburg. A different designer created each of the ten bespoke suites -which range from ethno-African to contemporary Johannesburg cool- to provide natural light and incorporate the lush garden setting. This design hotel combines a bespoke style and impeccable service, offering guests a sleek and peaceful retreat.

There are only ten suites here, all spacious and bright with bespoke furnishings. Each comes with a separate lounge with fireplace and a bedroom opening on to a terrace or private garden. Room facilities include air conditioning/heating,  satellite TV, a work desk, safe and telephone. Luxurious bathrooms have a steam bath, walk-in shower, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and complimentary toiletries. A fully stocked minibar is included in the room rate and other extra's include free newspapers and bottled water.

Against a South African backdrop, the hotel swimming pool, set amid outdoor terraces and a garden, invites guests to relax.

Ten Bompas' Winehouse restaurant takes its inspiration from a painting of Amy Winehouse by Joanna Flatau, a Polish artist living in Paris. The owners of Ten Bompas first met Joanna in the Languedoc, where they purchased her iconic painting for the hotel’s restaurant. Reflecting the heady combination of French flair, good times, great food and wine, the painting embodies the laid-back energy backdrop of this restaurant. Executive chef, Johannes de Bruijn and his team serve meals which encompass a philosophy of heart and home – comfort food which is prepared using fresh seasonal produce sourced from the hotel’s organically grown gardens. This being South Africa, there is an extensive wine list, both national and foreign with some 4500 wines in the hotels's cellar.

Don't forget to visit the (unisex!) bathrooms — with TVs beneath glass flooring and Perspex toilet seats, embedded with colorful toy lizards and spiders, they are giving the Japanese a run for their money. The chic bar area is an ideal place to entertain business guests or relax before dinner. A breakfast is included in the rate.
