Amid the winelands of Anjou and Saumur is the 12th-century monastery of Fontevraud. Parisian design duo Jouin Manku worked on the cutting edge modern interiors of the hotel that re-opened in one of the monastery's buildings. They raw interiors complements the building's monastic heritage.
Guestrooms have a reduced colour palette of beige with mustard-yellow accents and similarly rigorous materials: blackened steel, wood, wool and linen. Featuring a view of the 13-hectare gardens, the rooms feature a seating area, a TV, an iPad, work desk, safe and a private bathroom with a shower and a hairdryer.
The gourmet restaurant of the hotel is headed by Thibaut Ruggeri, Boucuse d'Or 2013 winner.
An array of activities can be enjoyed on site or in the surroundings, including golfing, cycling (complimentary bicycles available) and horse riding.
