10 Karaköy, a Morgans Original Hotel, is a contemporary rework of a 19th-century neo-classical Ottoman-era building in Istanbul's hippest neighbourhood. High ceilings, wall to floor windows and original flooring have been kept wherever possible, with furnishings a subtle blend of the traditional and modern. Signature fish designs are present throughout the public spaces, like the chic ring lights of the modern chandelier dominating the elegant atrium running the entire height of the building represent air bubbles exhaled - a nod to to building's original incarnation as a fish market.
Rooms and suites open off the spectacular central atrium and come with light wooden floors, midcentury-style furniture, arty photographs of Istanbul and its inhabitants and white wooden shutters. Room facilities include LED TVs on poles, i-pod docks, expresso machines and marble bathrooms.
There is a destination restaurant by renowned chef Rudolf Van Nunen, a lounge bar and a roof terrace bar. Fitness centre.
