Originally a 1960 inn, Graduate Madison Hotel is a newly revamped property, a block north of State Street and just a few blocks from Memorial Union. University of Wisconsin campus is 1 2-minute walk. Room come with a "preppy college" theme and have a flat-screen TV, iPod dock, work area, refrigerator and private bathroom. Selected suites have a sleeper sofa. The property has a fitness centre and a free shuttle service to local destinations is offered. Off the lobby is Portage Pi, a restaurant serving wrapped, filled pastries called hand pies, panini sandwiches, coffee and smoothies. It features a 20-foot-long communal table with four banks of outlets to power laptops, phones and tablets. The new rooftop bar and restaurant serves large and small plates and offers views of Lake Mendota and the State Capitol.
