The recently renovated Hotel des Trois Vallées pays tribute to its 1950s origins with original furniture by the likes of Charlotte Perriand, Jean Prouvé, and Pierre Paulin. The hotel is situated in Courchevel 1850 and offers direct access to the slopes of the largest ski area in the world. Guest rooms are equipped with an LCD TV, DVD player, a minibar and a bathroom with tub/shower, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. All rooms have a balcony, some with views of the slopes. The Suite on the top floor has two bedrooms. The spa, with sauna, Turkish bath, and a large Jacuzzi, is awash in natural materials and is a great showcase of modernist mountain design. The restaurant serves traditional Savoyard fare and there is also a bar, delicatessen shop and ski shop. Member Design Hotels™.

The DNA: The hotel was Courchevel's first in the 1950s and its furniture, which is worthy of a modern museum, creates a grand urban inn, -pardon- auberge.
• Seasonal hotel: open mid-December until May 1.
