Grand Ferdinand is Vienna's latest luxury hotel with a twist. It is located on the prestigious Ringstraße boulevard, with other grand luxury hotels as neighbours and with the Vienna State Opera a 5-minute walk and the St. Stephen's Cathedral a 10-minute walk. The hotel is set in a 1950s building and boats original contemporary interiors with commissioned chandeliers made by Vienna glassmaker Lobmeyr and round, leather-rimmed, mirrors by Gubi in the style of Jacques Adnet.
Rooms come in different categories and range from dorm rooms to suites, with standard rooms featuring air conditioning, wooden floors, kingsize beds, a flat-screen TV, a safe, a minibar, and a bathroom with rainfall showers. Standard+ rooms and up have leather chaise longues and are stocked with Mumm champagne. Suites have balconies with panoramic views, and free-standing bathtubs.
The Grand Ferdinand has a gourmet restaurant serving reinvinted Austrian cuisine, an all-day restaurant serving Austrian comfort and the roof top Grand Étage for favourite food and drinks. There is also an outdoor rooftop swimming pool, a fitness centre and a peaceful courtyard garden.
• 188 rooms
• Hotel opened: October 2015
• Unique: The Grand Ferdinand was once the headquarters of Veitscher Magnesitwerke. Its director was Dr. Hans Lauda, grandfather of Formula One world champion Niki Lauda. His company car: a Jaguar. More specifically, the Jaguar that our guests can now hire for outings. Also in the fleet: a Maserati Quattroporte.
