Generator Amsterdam is a brand new designer hostel located in Amsterdam's up-and-coming East district. It is set in the leafy Oosterpark (Eastern Park) surrounded by impressive buildings from Holland's colonial past. The Generator building itself is a historical brick building built in 1908 as the Univeristy of Amsterdam's biology department (the Zoo is located accross the street).
Inspired by the building’s history and park-side location, the hybrid hotel/hostel maintained the lecture hall and science lab aesthetics while modernizing the spaces with playful graphics and pops of colour to create a labyrinth of sprawling amenities, with no shortage of hang-out spots. The core social space, Nescio, named after a famous Dutch writer, includes 3 spaces. A café, open daily for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, provides grab and go items, and a range of locally-sourced dishes. The Auditorium, open day and night as a laid-back lounge. And the Library, an intimate space to unwind, retains its original wood heritage elements that pay homage to its initial function and includes walls shelved with bright orange books.
A standalone underground speakeasy-like bar located in the building’s former boiler room is to open later this year. Tailored programming includes a Coffee Lab, beer tastings, coffee masterclasses, Vanmoof bikes, movie screenings, and work spaces.

Each room features air conditioning, bed linen and a private bathroom with shower. The Generator Amsterdam also includes premium rooms and the luxury Sky Suite Apartment with views of Oosterpark including two bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room, and a TV.

There is a 24-hour front desk.
