The DNA: A depart from the traditional luxury hotels of Gstaad, Huus Gstaad is a welcoming hotel open to all. The great Alpine outdoors inspired the designer for the interiors of the hotel: wool blankets on guestroom beds, expansive windows, tree trunk table bases, and leather cushions contribute to the hotel’s outdoor vibe. The reception desk is part wood (piled oak beams held together by climbing ropes) and part boulder that was found in a nearby river. Branch-inspired chandeliers hang above the striking piece, which is backed by a wall of split rough oak. Plaid chair backs and walls in the restaurant echo traditional outdoor clothing with a lack of pretension.
