Just off Berlin’s Kurfürstendamm shopping street in the Charlottenburg district is Provocateur Berlin where an interiors mix of 1920s Paris meets urban Berlin today - think twinkling chandeliers, low lighting, contemporary artworks, and velvet curtain. The building is a perfect picture of the 1911 modern-style Art Nouveau architecture (originally designed by Wilhelm Gutzeit) that is typical of Berlin’s western Charlottenburg neighborhood.

The hotel’s guestrooms vary from the Petite room to the De Luxe room. The plush, burlesque-influenced rooms come with smart TVs and Nespresso machines, minibars and safes. Superiour rooms have balconies, sitting areas and/or claw-foot tubs, while suites include terraces and/or separate living rooms.

Amenities include an upscale restaurant that serves French-Chinese cuisine, as well as a fashionable bar.

The DNA: Stock broker-turned-interior designer Saar Zafrir is responsible for much of the furniture, including chairs, cabinets, side tables, and “golden boxes”, while a color scheme of dark-red, petrol-blue, black, and brass runs throughout. Artwork from local talents and internationally recognized names is prominently displayed around the hotel. Liran Wizman is the visionary behind Amsterdam’s Sir Albert, which has given rise to iconic Sir properties across Europe. Micky Rosen and Alex Urseanu have set an aesthetic and entrepreneurial benchmark in their native Frankfurt. They are known for transforming underused spaces into irresistible hotspots. Consummate locals and the ultimate hoteliers, the three have joined forces to create Berlin’s Provocateur.
