Built on a dramatic plot in the 1970s in Brutalist style, the Monte Tauro Hotel (now associated with the Spanish Eurostars chain) offers sweeping views stretching from Mount Etna to the Bay of Naxos. It is located just a few minutes' walk from the Corso Umberto, Taormina's main drag. Its spectacular raw concrete design may not be for everybody, the interiors have been restyled in a not unpleasant, but quite nondescript international style of parquet floors, silken stucco walls and designer furniture. Rooms have air conditioning and private balconies with those same panoramic views. At the lowest level (the hotel is built 8 floors downwards from the cliff) you will find the swimming pool surrounded by loungers. There is also a restaurant and bar.
