W Punta de Mita in Mexico’s Rivera Nayarit recently opened, joining W Mexico City as the brand’s second hotel in the market. Designed by ASET/AOMA in collaboration with Mister Important Design and Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ design team, the resort channels the area’s local boho surf culture.
A bright blue and green mosaic “Caminio Huichol” walkway guides guests through communal areas of the hotel from the entrance through the Living Room lobby and bar and onto the center walkway of the pool, referred to as the Wet Deck. The walkway was designed to represent “the Huichol life journey ultimately terminating in an ascension to spiritual heights.”
The resort offers 119 guest villas that use natural wood and glass throughout the design. On-site dining options include Chevicheria, a 1950s Chevrolet 3800 truck located on the beach serving ceviche and craft beer, and Mesa1, privately situated on an island in the middle of a lake that only accommodates one seating per day.
There is the main dining option, the Jean-Georges Vongerichten overseen Spice Market Beach, and an extensive spa.
