The Valsana Hotel is an eco-friendly boutique hotel heated by geothermal probes and an high-tech ice-battery – a first for Switzerland. The hotel is owned by the Tschuggen Hotel Group, which also operates the grande dame hotels Tschuggen Grand Arosa and the Carlton St Moritz.
The Valsana is spread across three new buildings with 40 spacious double rooms and suites, and nine serviced apartments. A relaxed atmosphere is created with vintage record players in the rooms, hammocks on the balconies and weekly film nights.
An open plan public area includes the lobby, a lounge, and restaurant Twist, complete with an outdoor terrace where patrons can dine lakeside. A spa offer several saunas, a steam bath, and an indoor pool. The hotel is a short walk from the ski lift and has its own bike and ski shop.

The DNA: Owned by the Tschuggen Hotel Group (Tschuggen Grand Arosa, Carlton Hotel St Moritz), the Valsana is the first hotel in Switzerland powered by an ice vault, an underground thermal energy storage system that allows excess energy to be stored. The three buildings are constructed to the highest environmental and energy standards and are characterised by state-of-the-art architecture in wood and stone. Drawing inspiration from the area’s natural surroundings, Roman Mooser uses eco-friendly materials for the architecture, while interior designer and Ascona native Carlo Rampazzi selected furnishings and décor that match the hotel’s eco-conscious ethos.
