Winner of the UNESCO architecture prize Prix Versailles 2017 (a global architecture prize for stores, hotels and restaurants) for its interiors, the boutique Hotel Spedition is located in a historically protected building in Thun, 30 km from Interlaken and 60 km from Gstaad.
Every room has its own character. Inspired by the idea of a spediteur who left the rat race and started exploring life beyond the straight line between A and B, the rooms feature collections of all sorts of interesting things, from umbrella handles and antique cobbler’s lasts to wine labels and model railway cars. Room facilities include air-conditioning, a flat-screen cable TV, a Samsung tablet, a work desk with different power outlets and a safe. Bathrooms come with a shower, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. As the building has an air cleaning system, it is also suitable for guests with allergies.
The popular on-site restaurant serves grill dishes and traditional Swiss cuisine. There is a bar and the little library tucked away on the third floor has a hand-picked selection of Parisian books and suggestive pictures from bygone times.
