Hotel Havgrím | Tórshavn, Faroe Islands

Havgrím Seaside Hotel 1948 | Tórshavn, FAROE ISLANDS

Vibe: End of the world.

Area: Seaside at Tórshavn, capital of the Faroe Islands, an archipelago about halfway between Norway and Iceland, 320 kilometres (200 miles) north-northwest of Scotland. The islands are an autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark.

The DNA: Built in 1948, this stately house is like no other in the Faroe Islands, with the original owner and designer taking inspiration from his many sailing trips to Great Britain. The location of the house is special, some would even say poetic, as the waves thunder against the rugged shores and the grassy mountains give a great sense of space and peace. Lovingly-restored with the emphasis on preserving the original style and décor, the interior has been designed to reflect the history of the house, connecting its location with nature and the sea.

Suite-Me-Up: The 14 bedrooms take their inspiration from the fjord, with a colour palate influenced by the sea when calm and stormy, the fields and the ever-changing Faroese sky. Bedroom options include the Commodore Suite (main photo), with bay views in all directions giving the feeling of sailing on the sea.
