If you are a fan of Antwerp and like to get to know the city a little bit better off the beaten track? Care for comfort, quiet and some luxury? Check in with Le Tissu, a little boutique hotel near the city park on the chic, leafy Brialmontlei avenue.
You will receive a warm and personal welcome. After your trip relax in the lounge annex office and reception. There is no manned front desk here, guest get the keys and the code to the front door with a personalized check-in.
There are only five, lavishly decorated rooms at Le Tissu (hence its name, meaning fabric in French). They come with large, super comfortable beds, designer furniture and spacious bathrooms. Almost all of the furniture and fabrics (there are two small decorating companies housed in the same building) is for sale. Quality does not come cheap (a completely outfitted bed around €6000), but everything spells luxury, luxury and luxury. Just feel and touch the fabric and you know why.
Breakfast is a treat. Hostess Veronique makes sure that nothing leaves to be desired: fresh bread, croissants, wonderful ‘tasjes’ (cups) of coffee, fresh fruit, a boiled egg (with self-knitted ‘hat’), yogurt, etc. There is an intimate breakfast room in the basement or weather permitting, breakfast is served in the beautiful, sunny garden adjacent to the church. We had a private set breakfast table in one of the ateliers.
Surrounded by the most beautiful of fabrics, sun rays reflected in the room, in the background Edith Piaf’s “La vie en rose” playing….bliss
