Run by a globetrotting Dutch family, Herangtunet Boutique Hotel Norway is a special design hotel located between the Heggefjord and Jontunheimen, Norway’s highest mountain range. It consists of several timber buildings, typical of the region and part of the Valdres province heritage, midway between Oslo and Bergen (200km). Surrounded by peaceful woods and lakes it offers endless possibilities for fishing, trekking, canoeing and skiing.
Herangtunet’s rooms are full of character with their unique style and décor inspired by various cities and countries from around the world. There are four rooms (Norway, France, Holland and Iceland), four suites (London, New York, Aspen and Rome), a family room with separate kids room (Sweden) and a two-bedroom apartment. All rooms have a private bathroom with walk-in (massage) shower and/or a tub, slippers, bathrobes, complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. Depending on the room other facilities include a flatscreen TV, Apple TV, DVD-player, safe, fridge, kitchenette and coffee/tea making facilities.
The popular and cosy hotel restaurant has a wood-burning stove and serves a daily three-course menu made of local products. Relaxation options include a sauna, hot tub, (sun)terrace and a beautiful garden.

The DNA: In 2007, Marie José and Marco, decided to trade in their Amsterdam city life for the Heggenes village vibe. Along came Balder, the back then, three year old son. Both had creative jobs in the Netherlands with Marie-José’s being an interior designer while Marco used to be a graphic designer at an advertising agency. While they traded in the city’s concrete for the Valdes region wildlife, Jotunheimen’s national parks mountains and trees, the passion for design did not stay behind. Putting all creative energy in this old wooden Norwegian farm, it was transformed from tradition into modern day luxury with an authentic atmosphere.
