Surrounded by the Dolomite mountains, Das Wanda is an all-suite boutique hotel set in a former dilapidated 1970s “pension”. Interiors feature earthy and local design: wet-clay toned walls, stripped oak, blond woods, tufted cushions, and hemp linens. Low slung comfortable cubist sofas contrast with glass walls, porphyry stone and brushed cement. Nearby you will find a small bathing lake, idyllically located between the vineyards, untouched by mass tourism.
Spacious minimalist suites come with a flat-screen TV, a minifridge and a sitting area with oversized sofa. Some offer open bathrooms, balconies, sofabeds, whirlpool tubs and/or panoramic mountain views.
A ✅complimentary gourmet breakfast is served at the table, either on the sunny terrace, or in the chic dining room. Light poolside and lounge snacks are available during the day. Local wines can be enjoyed in the lounge/bar.
There is a sleek wellness area with Kneipp sauna and an indoor infinity pool with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the apple plantations and vineyards. Another (seasonal) oudoor pool lies in the lush garden with palm trees, giving the impression of being in the Mediterranean or Caribbean – forgiven the Dolomite mountains in plain sight.

The DNA: Being part of a hotel family, owner Verena Huf is a warm and generous host. Being local, she is also passionate about her South Tyrolean roots and the pretty wine making village of Kaltern (Caldaro in Italian) in particular. She has designed the property drawing on the motto to embrace “Things you see when looking out of the window”, drawing from outside a vision for a modern hotel with a local heart; Das Wanda is undeniably, and strikingly, alluring.
