The family-run Casa Miradouro is a small ‘hotel de charme’ set in a former army officer’s mansion ad. 1890. It offers fantastic views towards the Atlantic Ocean and over Sintra up to the Pena Palace and the Moorish castle. Down the road (some 500 meters) is the National Palace in Sintra’s town centre where you will find an abundance of shops and restaurants.
Casa Miradouro has 8 non-smoking rooms, all with private bathrooms. Double-glazed windows and central heating make the rooms comfortable even in the Portuguese winter. All rooms are kept in bright colours and dispose of large windows so you can enjoy the magnificent views. Most rooms have beautiful stucco ceilings and boast a balcony. Bathrooms come with complimentary toiletries and a hairdryer. A large design loft with a fully equipped kitchen is available for longer stays.
Freshly baked bread from a wood oven is part of the daily breakfast buffet, served in Miradouro’s breakfast room or on the garden’s terrace during summer. The honesty bar in the lounge has an espresso machine and provides refreshing drinks to enjoy inside or out.

The DNA: Charlotte, who hails from Belgium, found this abandoned romantic villa at the edge of Sintra in 1993. The house, named after the viewpoint it is located on which offers views for miles and miles – you can even see the Atlantic Ocean from here. Built for a family of army officers around 1890, the family inhabited the house until 1987. Charlotte saw the opportunity to turn it into a charming boutique hotel. Completely restored, the beautiful garden has been redesigned by the Portuguese landscape arquitectura Nuno Mota. With its striking pink façade intact, it is an outstanding place in a town of outstanding beauty.
