The Grand Daddy is a funky boutique hotel with a rooftop Sky Bar, outdoor cinema, Airstream trailer park and stylish rooms. It is very much an urban hotel, located on Cape Town‘s bustling Long Street, near the hip restaurants and bars of Bree Street.
Opened in 1895 as The Metropole Hotel, the exterior hasn’t changed much – but the interiors did: the boho-chic reception area has a desk of vintage suitcases and ostrich-leather easy chairs are reflected in an oversized baroque mirror. Opt for a stylish, contemporary ‘regular’ room or one of the seven themed vintage Airstream trailers on the roof.
Thirty-Ate is the hotel’s bistro-bar on Long Street. On the first floor is the Daddy Cool bar and there is the (weather-dependent) rooftop bar.
