The DNA: Located in Basel’s car-free Old Town, ART HOUSE is a boutique design hotel set behind a black stone façade which houses rotating exhibitions that lean toward emerging street artists. Onyx stone, raw concrete, black steel, terrazzo, and oak wood set a Japanese-inspired scene for furniture pieces by big international names, like Vitra, Abacus, Artek, Santa & Cole, KNS, and Living Divani. Rooms feature Hästens beds, Marshall speakers, and bathrooms of Lasa marble. Many guestrooms have balconies or terraces that overlook the vibrant Steinenvorstadt neighborhood. At the “Million Stars Room” guests can sleep outside on the terrace. The chefs at restaurant Souvenir encourage guests to bring their own recipes for an imaginative reinterpretation, while the rooftop bar “Mirador” offers cocktails and snacks with a view.
