The Area: Located in the hills of Sant Vicenç de Montalt, 35 kilometres north of Barcelona. Several beaches such as Sant Vicenç and Caldetas are just five minutes’ drive away. The Fundació Palau, a museum created by Catalan poet Josep Palau i Fabre which shows by Picasso and other artists, is nearby.

The DNA: Offering wonderful views of the Maresme Coast, Can Mora de Dalt is set in a 15th century farmstead, which has been in the same family for eighteen generations. Now a charming small hotel, the house is laid around a courtyard while the terraced Mediterranean garden with jasmine, orange, lemon and almond trees slopes down three levels to the swimming pool. Inside, a reading room, games room and TV room await. In August in the evenings, a restaurant and bar service, under the trees of the garden, is offered with a choice of gin and tonics and excellent options of local products from the market. The hotel is also happy to provide a picknick lunch. Nearby guest can find several Michelin starred restaurants. A typical Catalan breakfast is provided, with specialities such as good locally-made sausages and cold meats, and pa amb tomàquet, fresh bread rubbed with ripe tomato and drizzled with olive oil.

Suite-Me-Up: The elegant rooms at Can Mora de Dalt feature tiled floors and a chic, rustic décor. There are just 11 rooms, distributed as four suites, four double rooms and 3 junior suites. The suites have great views of the village and the sea, while the quiet rooms and junior rooms (in the tower) overlook the courtyard or the mountains.
