The Area: Midtown Village, Center City East
THE DNA: Canopy by Hilton Philadelphia Center City is set in the historic 1896-built Stephen Girard Building. The 236-room hotel features bold energy and colour, alongside vibrant patterning on fabrics; interior designers, AvroKO, combining local touches with contemporary design and the history of the neighbourhood. Canopy has a multitude of comfortable spaces from which to watch the world go by, catch up on work, and mingle with likeminded guests; whilst a robust art programme—inspired by Philadelphia’s modern street art, and that refers back to the hip-hop genre that creates the hotel’s unique modern Beaux-Arts hybrid—features works of art, murals and installations by local artists, creating a truly local and cultural experience. The Wayward, Canopy Philadelphia’s first floor restaurant, is a take on the American Brasserie and open for breakfast through to dinner, features American classics influenced by French bistros, some of the city’s best oyster and gin selections, and a comprehensive cocktail, wine and beer list.
Suite-Me-Up: The spacious Just-Right Suite features local touches and contemporary design, influenced by the fashion and musical history of the Midtown Village neighbourhood. It comes with a king-size Canopy bed with gel memory foam and Serta Cool Balance® technology, along with a stylish couch and powder room, in addition to a full bathroom with large soaker tub.
