Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel | Los Angeles

Downtown LA Proper Hotel | Los Angeles

The Vibe: Art Deco meets Morocco meets Southern California.

The Area: The corner of LA’s 11th and historic Broadway Corridor is a glittering pastiche of fashion boutiques, sports complexes and Art Deco architecture.

The DNA: From its state-of-the-art private club in the 1920s to a YWCA in the 1960s the Downtown LA Proper Hotel is the creative vision of Kelly Wearstler and seamlessly blends past and present with compelling design, vintage influence and local art. Essentials include two destination restaurants in partnership with James Beard Award-winning L.A. chef Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne (Lucques, a.o.c., Hollywood Bowl Food + Wine, Larder Baking company); an intimate library-lounge, a city-view rooftop pool and lounge-bar-restaurant.

Suite-Me-Up: A tremendous, 10×3,65m (35×12 foot) indoor swimming pool from the building’s YWCA past is re-imagined as the star of this one-of-a-kind Pool Suite. The unique space is filled with design-driven details, including Portugal-inspired marble and stonework, a stunning handcrafted ceramic tile mural by local LA artist Ben Medansky, and an inspired mix of vintage and custom furnishings. Designed with an open floor plan for living and dining, the suite includes a separate bedroom with en suite bath.
