Eden Locke | Edinburgh

The Vibe: All Georgian Edinburgh outside, all ice cream pastels with a squirt of mustard inside.

The Area: Swish George Street in New Town, a 15-minute stroll up to the Old Town.

The DNA: Locke is a new, hip aparthotel concept. For the Eden Locke Edinburgh outpost New York designers Grzywinski+Pons stripped down a 18th-century Georgian and its 20th century extension down to its bare bones. Making full use of all its space (good-looking heights!), natural light (large windows!) and heritage, pale oak floors, plenty of pastels with the odd squirt of mustard and self-conscious quirkiness create a light-hearted but on-trend feel. The heart of it all is the pistachio-and-vanilla coffee lounge/bar, with its spiky plants in terracotta pots, people tapping at their tablets and an abundance of light.

Suite-Me-Up: Each suite is furnished with underfloor heating, fully fitted kitchens, a comfortable L shaped sofa, blackout blinds, the Locke Dream Bed, Samsung Smart TV with Apple TV, large mirrors, marble dining table, Kinsey Apothecary skincare products as well as a cocktail recipe book and mixology kit.
