The DNA: Furnas Lake Forest Living, previously Furnas Lake Villas is a complex of ten modern villas located in the stunning volcanic Furnas basin in São Miguel island, Azores, which has the highest number of hot springs in Europe. The modernist villas are made from locally grown Japanese cedar wood, the trees having been introduced to the islands 200 years ago. Inspired by local rustic granaries, the villas are raised on stilts above a pond. They feature minimalist, Scandinavian-style decor, and come with kitchens, living/dining rooms with fireplaces, and TVs. There’s also a 2-bedroom house with a private garden. The villas offer beautiful views of the lushly vegetated crater sides all around.
