The Vibe: Funky Urban.
The Area: Very much an urban hotel, located in Cape Town‘s CBD on bustling Long Street, near the hip restaurants and bars of Bree Street.
The DNA: The Grand Daddy is a funky boutique hotel with a rooftop Sky Bar, outdoor cinema, Airstream trailer park and stylish rooms. Opened in 1895 as The Metropole Hotel, the exterior hasn’t changed much – but the interiors did: the boho-chic reception area has a desk of vintage suitcases and ostrich-leather easy chairs are reflected in an oversized baroque mirror. Thirty-Ate is the hotel’s bistro-bar on Long Street. On the first floor is the Daddy Cool bar and there is the (weather-dependent) rooftop bar.
Suite-Me-Up: Opt for a stylish, contemporary ‘luxury’ room for outward facing views or one of the seven themed vintage Airstream trailers on the roof.
