Grand Ferdinand Vienna Hotel

Grand Ferdinand Vienna

The Vibe: Grand Ferdinand Vienna is a luxury hotel with a twist. The hotel is set in a 1950s building and boats original contemporary interiors with commissioned chandeliers made by Vienna glassmaker Lobmeyr and round, leather-rimmed, mirrors by Gubi in the style of Jacques Adnet.

The Area: Located in the city center on the prestigious Ringstraße boulevard, with other grand luxury (albeit traditional) hotels as neighbours. The Vienna State Opera is a 5-minute walk and the St. Stephen’s Cathedral is a 10-minute walk.

The DNA: Owner Florian Weitzer, who turned his family’s Wiesler grande dame hotel in hometurf Graz into a hip hangout now did his knack (he also owns the Daniel Hotels in Vienna and Graz) with the Grand Ferdinand Vienna. Or as he says “I was graciously given the opportunity to transform a landmarked building on Vienna’s Ringstraße into a glorious hotel. Splendidly contemporary, free of forced flashbacks – and filled with unparalleled spirit.” The building was once the headquarters of Veitscher Magnesitwerke which director was Dr. Hans Lauda, grandfather of Formula One world champion Niki Lauda. His company car: a Jaguar. More specifically, the Jaguar that guests can now hire for outings. Also in the fleet: a Maserati Quattroporte. Nothing short of a royal treatment.

Suite-Me-Up: The Grande Suite takes the truly sumptuous one step further. Decorated with exotic palm trees, a glamorous round sofa banquette (main photo) and a free-standing bathtub. Equipped with a private access to the Grand Étage and its rooftop pool overlooking Vienna.
