The Vibe: One of these typical mid-scale chain prototype hotels, the Haworth Hotel was re-imagined by Miland-based, Spanish designer Patricia Urquiola and the eponymous furniture company, Haworth, which is based locally. The hotel would not look out of place in, say, Scandinavia.
The Area: Located in downtown Holland (voted the second-happiest place to live in America), on the campus of Hope College, fulfilling the Haworth family’s vision to create a bridge between the community, the college, and clients. Lake Michigan’s beaches can be reaches in a few minutes’ drive.
The DNA: The Haworth Hotel at Hope College is tastefully appointed with furniture by Poltrona Frau, Cappellini, Cassina and Janus et Cie. The company’s trusted partners are also well-represented; lighting by Pablo Designs, rugs by Gan and textiles by Kvadrat bring an elegant tactility throughout the hotel interior. A grand, spiral staircase serves as a dramatic focal point in the lobby, which has multiple areas to lounge, work and meet people.
Suite-Me-Up: No suites, but all rooms are spacious.
