Hotel Regency Firenze

Hotel Regency Firenze

The Vibe: A wonderfully classic hotel. Inside, the Regency décor, Renaissance art and original features – from antique mirrors to period lights – have a timeless charm. Outside, you’ll find the ‘Secret Garden’ – a tranquil spot to enjoy an aperitif or simply bask in the Tuscan sun.

The Area: Overlooking the prestigious Piazza d’Azeglio, a ten minute walk from the Duomo. Ideal if you want a bit of peace and quiet, yet a short stroll from the lively Sant’Ambrogio market area with its plethora of cafés, bars and restaurants.

The DNA: When Florence was the capital of Italy, this neighborhood is where the high-powered ministries lived. They built sumptuous villas, two of which now house the Regency Firenze. Built in the second half of the 19th-century in the style of Neoquattrocentesco and commissioned by banker James Servadio, architect Henry Kleffer combined two homes with a modern approach. The Art Nouveau style has been meticulously maintained, the classic Florentine look (antiques, rugs, old master paintings, floor lenght curtains, original parquet floors, rich fabrics) is livened up by Deco detailing, which gives a touch of retro glam. Outside, the idyllic, private courtyard offers a refuge from the city and a perfect location for an exclusive candlelight dinner or breakfast under the Tuscan sun. The gourmet restaurant “Relais Le Jardin” is led by Claudio Lopopolo and includes classics like the Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

Suite-Me-Up: A timeless capsule of history and grace, each room is filled with history and dressed with elegant, sophisticated designs and deep hues. They are individually styled; some are quite traditional (deep reds, carpeting, antiques) while others have been given a more modern look with a neutral colour palette and hardwood floors. The best room is a suite at the top of the house with a big terrace looking over the piazza. Beds, made up with crisp white linens, are supremely comfortable. There’s a touch of Deco glam in the bathrooms which are done out in Carrara marble with retro chrome fittings; expect robes and slippers, heated towel rails, proper hair dryers and citrus-scented bath goodies.
