Koe Hotel Kuala Lumpur

KLoé Hotel | Kuala Lumpur

The DNA: A fantastic add to the Kuala Lumpur hospitality scene, the very en-vogue KLoé Hotel combines a range of styles (tropical modern, industrial chic, mid-century, Scandinavian, steampunk, sleek architecture) into a unique mix. The aesthetics may seem familiar, as the owners are behind BackHome, one of the first hip hostels. Owned by a showbiz couple according to the New Strait Times, maybe their loss to Malaysian TV (I by the way do not watch TV at all, let alone Malaysian one) certainly is a win to the world of boutique hotels. KLoé stands for the abbreviation of Kuala Lumpur, KL, and Chloe, the Greek name for ‘fresh bloom’. The hotel describes itself as  “a home for the creative nomads”. Indeed, it offers spaces that celebrate the pursuit of music, art, food, reading, and gardening, Also, KLoé weaves the fabric of Kuala Lumpur’s creative spirit into every part of the hotel by showcasing furniture, ceramics and artwork from the city’s leading designers. Located in the Bukit Bintang neighbourhood, the city’s prime retail area and home to many international hotel brands, the hotel has a swimming pool and deck, fitness classes, yoga, meditation and a coffee house. There is no restaurant at such, but around the corner you find Jalan Alor, a street food haven that comes alive at night. Also nearby Jalan Imbi is known for its Chinese cuisine. The rooms, hugging a central courtyard are connected by open walkways and lush green walls, come with air conditioning and the usual mod cons. The five artist ‘lofts’ are each decorated by a different designer. Room to Listen has an expansive vinyl collection across several genres including an amazing sound system, while Room to Draw has art supplies so its guests can unleash their inner artist during their stay in the room. Meanwhile, Room to Grow has – you guessed it – plants. Specifically, it’s a conservatory-like design that makes you feel as though you’re staying in a greenhouse, minus the humidity.
