La Fiermontina | Lecce, Italy

The DNA: La Fiermontina is a handsome Baroque masseria turned chic urban resort. The soul of the place is a fine collection of 20th-century art works inspired by the muse, model and painter Antonia Fiermonte – grand-mother of the current owners (who also run Palazzo Bozzi Corso nearby). Matisse-like nudes by René Letourneur sit alongside Rodin-esque sculptures by Jacques Zwobada – outstanding French artists, both of whom were in love with Fiermonte. The minimalist interiors are done in light, neutral tones with lashings of blonde Leccese stone and a mix of vintage and designer furniture. Outside, the walled olive grove with an outdoor pool lies on the verge of Lecce’s historic centre, offering a haven for honeymooners and art lovers alike.
