La Valise | Mexico City

district: Colonia Roma

Located above the owner’s concept store featuring “designed and made in Mexico” products, La Valise is a small luxury hotel with just 3 suites in hip Colonia Roma, a neighborhood teeming with contemporary art galleries, independent boutiques, great restaurants and trendy nightlife venues. The hotel is set in an early 20th century French style building. Mexico Citys lively Zona Rosa neighbourhood, Reforma Avenue and the Angel of Independence are all within a 15 minutes’ walk.

El Patio, as the name suggests, features a breezy patio complete with a leather swing and a hammock handmade by artisans from Yucatán. Inside a black velvet sofa, crocodile-skin upholstery and a terra cotta sculpture of a dog by artist Carlos Ranc. La Luna, with pale hardwood floors, vintage lamps, and a hallway painted pink, has more of a romantic Frida Kahlo-inspired look. La Terraza has a king-sized bed that rolls to the open-air terrace, which is conveniently equipped with a movie projector. There’s also a fireplace inside. All suites come with air conditioning, a Nespresso machine, a 40″ LED flat-screen TV, sound system and free international calls. Bathrooms have large bathtubs and walk-in showers with products by L’Occitane.

There is no restaurant as such but room service is available through Elena Reygadas’s (Veuve Cliquot Latin America’s Best Female Chef 2014) Rosetta restaurant, one of the San Pellegrino World’s 50 Best Restaurants. Also, the upmarket bars and restaurants around Plaza Cibeles are just 5-minute walk away.
