The Vibe: Minimalist designer hostel.
The Area: Located in Olomouc’s old town, a short meander away from the main square and other ecclesiastical sights such as the Holy Trinity Column.

The DNA: Long Story Short is a casually hip hostel set in a 17th-century horseshoe-shaped building that was used for military purposes. Inside, the restored building shows original details combined with a mix of (mostly Czech) vintage furnishings and simple materials such as wood, metal and concrete. The onsite bistro serves up breakfast and small snacks such as house-made soups and sandwiches. Meanwhile, the common areas and an outdoor terrace are perfect for working, meeting and greeting or exchanging travel tips.
Suite-Me-Up: The 56 beds are distributed over a series of private and dormitory rooms with either private or shared facilities. Custom-made beds, mirrors, rotary switches from the 1930s and black bathroom fixtures offset the original vaulted ceilings. Pastel colours of furniture and fabrics, and black lines draw accents to the otherwise white plaster spaces.
