The Vibe: Casual-chic.
The Area: In the hip 7th district. The area’s main drag, Burggasse, full of quirky café/bars and shops is a 10-minute walk.
The DNA: The fifth property to join the playful Max Brown brand, Max Brown 7th District, like its other outposts flies the local flag, first with its location and second with an all Viennese art collection to rival any of the city’s notable assortment of museums. Curated by London-based art consultant Idit Orni, there are over 480 original or specially commissioned pieces, including a giant hand-painted wall mural, emblazoned onto the neighbouring building, by artists Käthe Schönle and Sebastian Schager; thought-provoking, provocative works from Renate Bertlmann and Julia Faber, that dot the public spaces; and photography by Raffaela Bielesch in the guestrooms. The very ‘now’ (aqua-coloured rectangular tiling; coral pink walls) and contemporary favourites (industrial-chic polished concrete; exposed brick) mix with more quirky, original touches, such as a floral velour sofa in the lobby-lounge area, mismatched furniture in Seven North, the restaurant and bar and fabulous oversized citrus-print carpets in corridors.
Suite-Me-Up: Extra Large rooms (no uites) do exactly what they say on the tin, with bright, spacious interiors peppered with plant life and mid-century design.
