Mollie’s Motel & Diner | Faringdon, England

The Vibe: Throwback Motel.

The Area: On the A420 between Faringdon and Oxford.

The DNA: Harking back to the retro 1950s American diner, Soho House’s latest is the modern roadside chic Mollie’s Motel & Diner, located in founder Nick Jones’ hometown of Oxford, England. The 79-room throwback motel, which guests check-in to online or by mobile app, is a daring departure – and more affordable option – from the trendsetting brand’s typical posh offerings. In the restaurant, materials evocative of the era, including wood paneling, metal finishes, and stitching found in the diner’s teal leather-upholstered banquettes emulate the interior of vintage Cadillacs. Here, patrons can peek into the kitchen from the high-top counter while indulging in typical American fair. An elevated general store completes the classic-meets-contemporary design.

Suite-Me-Up: Soho House imbued the pale green-hued guestrooms with “a simple and stylish feel, making sure the rooms had all the things that makes staying in a hotel room enjoyable.” Wood slatted headboards, spherical light fixtures on walls, and burnt-red velvet chairs outfit the spaces, which include a handful of suites and interconnected bunk-bed rooms suited for families.
