nhow Amsterdam RAI

nhow Amsterdam

The Vibe: Wordly.

The Area: A not particular picturesque area, but convenient for the RAI Convention Centre, motorway, metro station (city centre in ten minutes) and train station (airport in fifteen minutes).

The DNA: Themes from the ‘Golden Age’ of Amsterdam as a commercial centre of Europe are woven into the boldly coloured lobby, along with well-known international symbols, such as Indian mandalas, Mexican ‘Día de Muertos’ skulls, and Japanese cherry blossoms. The interior design is the work of NEXT Architects, in collaboration with GLG/MVSA Architects while the architecture marks the second collaboration between NH Hotel Group (the first being nhow Rotterdam) and the architects of Rem Koolhaas’ OMA (Office for Metropolitan Architecture). The design of nhow Amsterdam RAI was inspired by one of the most iconic features of RAI Amsterdam: the advertising column better known as ‘Het Signaal’ (The Signal). Consisting of three superposed triangles, the building points in many directions, symbolising the diversity that characterises the past, present and future of the city of Amsterdam.

Suite-Me-Up: nhow Amsterdam RAI offers six different room designs owing their inspiration to the six cardinal points of the building’s corners: south, west, north, southwest, southeast and northwest. Prints and images of traditional costumes represent each direction. With 650 rooms, this is the Benelux largest hotel. The Penthouse Suite is spread over the 21st and 22nd floor with a 21m2 private terrace.
