The Vibe: There’s a summer camp feeling about this classic, mid-century motel which is made up of six structures, flanked by lush greenery and native Texas flora, and surround a large outdoor swimming pool.
The Area: Central Texas Triangle, between Austin and Dallas-Fort Worth.
The DNA: The Shady Villa Hotel, Texas’ oldest still operating hotel (established 1861) has gotten a make-over from Austin-based hospitality visionaries Bunkhouse Group. The brand’s love of Texas shows in art by Austin photographer Nick Simonite. The mid-century vibe can be seen in refreshed daybeds with waxed canvas covers and cotton canvas pillows, and colour schemes inspired by primary palettes. The Stagecoach Restaurant is open from morning to night, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with creative dishes that fuse Old Texas and modern techniques.
Suite-Me-Up: With ample room to roam, the Heritage Oak and Poolside suites are outfitted with king beds, a lounge area with sleeper sofa, kitchenettes, 1.5 baths, and a private patio to soak up the Texas sun.
