The Guesthouse Vienna design hotel

The Guesthouse Vienna

The Vibe: Interior concepts by Sir Terence Conran/Conran & Partners combine trend awareness, comfort and and functionality into a unique style.

The Area: Sharing the same square as the Albertina, Opera House and Sacher Hotel, the luxury Guesthouse Vienna is a favourite among the hotel offerings in Vienna’s city centre. Taxi-stands, horse-drawn carriages, buses, tubes and trams are all within a 100-yard radius, and one of Vienna’s most beautiful parks, Burggarten, is just across the street. The main shopping precinct starts here.

The DNA: A former characterless 1960s building that was once student housing, the interior saw a major revamp by Conran & Partners, creators of elegant, clean lines in furnishings that are both practical and aesthetically pleasing. The lobby is tucked away neatly to the side, making it hardly noticeable that there’s a hotel here. Design classics by Wittmann and Oswald Haerdtl adorn the spacious rooms and create a unique “at-home” feeling.

Suite-Me-Up: Four categories of light and airy rooms are available on eight floors, some face quiet courtyards, others the opera – these have spacious cantilever windows padded for comfort and perfect for sky gazing or people-watching, whilst sipping a glass of one of the excellent wines (four bottles of wine come free of charge). The Maisonette Suite charms with a sloping roof, an intimate sleeping area on the upper level, a spacious living room downstairs for entertaining and huge lounge windows.
