The DNA: Nestled in the bylanes of Jaipur’s pink-walled Johri Bazaar is a boutique hotel that was once a 19th-century, three-storey haveli. It the second property in Jaipur from Honawar Hospitality, the team behind 28 Kothi. Conceptualised by New York-based designer Naina Shah, The Johri features five expansive suites overlooking a courtyard, which houses an ingredient-forward vegetarian eatery and an intimate lounge. The hotel was restored using local crafts and traditional materials. Each of its five suites feature a colour palette based on a particular gemstone—Manak (ruby), Moti (pearl), Sona (gold), Neelam (sapphire), and Panna (emerald)—and exhibit a careful curation of antique furniture, textiles, and Rajasthani artworks. The hotel’s Pukhraj Lounge, which features striking hand-painted murals of Rajasthan’s landscapes offers a signature high tea by day and innovative cocktails with local snacks at night.
