The Socialist | Copenhagen

The Socialist | Copenhagen

The Vibe: Certainly not for everyone – brutalist industrial chic.

The Area: City Centre, right next to the main shopping street Strøget and Kongens Nytorv metro station.

The DNA: Opened in 2018 as the Herman K, now The Socialist, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel is set in a former transformer station. A façade of dark bronze slats clearly mark it out on the streetscape, while inside, naked concrete is matched with softer details, such as deep pile carpets and Scandi-style upholstery. At Bobo Food Studio, a restaurant, bar, lounge, and terrace, guests can order anything from a quick bite to an experimental tasting menu curated by head chef Boris Buono, formerly of Noma (Copenhagen) and Maze (London).

Suite-Me-Up: Although the meaning of socialist here refers to being social, otherwise the Penthouse Suite in the other sense of socialist would have been called The Chairman Suite ;-). The duplex space offers a 40m2 (430 sq ft) furnished terrace with urban views.
